Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride

$5000.00

Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride is a mixed triester derived from coconut oil and glycerin. It is a specialized medium-chain triglyceride (MCT) oil that has been processed to remove long-chain fatty acids. This results in a highly stable, clear, and odorless liquid emollient that provides a "silky" feel without the greasiness associated with traditional vegetable oils.

Storage Recommendations

  • Temperature: Store in a cool, dry place. While highly resistant to oxidation, it is best kept at ambient temperatures (between 15°C and 30°C) to maintain optimal viscosity.

  • Packaging: Store in original sealed containers. High-density polyethylene (HDPE) or lined steel drums are typically used to protect the product from environmental contaminants.

  • Shelf Life: Exceptionally stable due to its saturated chemical structure. It typically has a shelf life of 2 to 3 years, as it is much less prone to rancidity than other vegetable-based oils.

Safety Note: Classified as non-irritating and non-sensitizing. It is widely recognized as safe (GRAS) for both topical and oral applications. As with all industrial chemicals, avoid contact with eyes during bulk handling.

Cosmetics & Personal Care:

  • Skin Care: Acts as an excellent emollient and skin-replenishing ingredient in lotions, creams, and face oils. It helps to repair the skin's surface and resist moisture loss.

  • Makeup: Frequently used as a solvent and dispersal agent for pigments in lipsticks, foundations, and eyeshadows, ensuring a smooth and even application.

  • Texture Enhancer: Used to improve the spreadability of sunscreens and heavy formulations, reducing the "drag" on the skin during application.

Food & Nutrition:

  • Carrier Oil: Used as a solvent for flavors and vitamins. Its low viscosity and high stability make it an ideal carrier for fat-soluble nutrients.

  • Dietary Supplements: Often sold as MCT oil for specialized diets due to the efficiency with which the body metabolizes medium-chain fatty acids for energy.

Pharmaceuticals:

  • Topical Drug Delivery: Serves as a vehicle for fat-soluble active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) in ointments and transdermal patches, enhancing the penetration of the skin barrier.
